Legal Aid (Public Funding)
At Gani & Co we undertake work funded by the Legal Services Commission (LSC). Public Funding (formerly known as Legal Aid) is a system of government funding, administered by the LSC. Gani & Co believes that the Criminal Justice System should be readily accessible to everybody. We are proud of our commitment to Legal Aid work and the Criminal Defence Service.

If you are arrested, charged or summonsed to appear in court you may be eligible for free legal advice and assistance. Even if you are not eligible we offer all clients a first consultation free of charge. Please contact us for further details.

For those who cannot afford to pay for legal advice and representation. Franchises are granted by the LSC for practicing in specific areas of law and are an endorsement of our quality system, client commitment and legal skills in those areas. Please contact us so that we can assess what funding may be available to you.

What if you are ineligible for Legal Aid.
We offer a competitive service to business and private clients. We have experience of:

DTI investigations.
HMRC enquiries including Hansard interviews.
POCA proceedings and confiscation at Magistrates.
Crown and High Court (from enforcement to challenge).
and allegations of false accounting and money laundering.
Army – all representations – AWOL; Rape; deception etc;

Our lawyers are available 24 hours a day, and will travel to you or to wherever the proposed interview will take place to ensure your interests are totally protected. We liaise with the authorities in your behalf, in advance of any interview, to obtain as much information we can to allow you to be fully appraised of the allegations which will be made before you attend at any interview.

We are experienced in obtaining evidence supportive of your case, so that you remain in control, as far as possible. We pride ourselves on achieving results for our clients, and aim to prevent prosecution where possible, or to guide you through what can be a difficult experience if you have to attend court.

Private Clients
At your first meeting you will be told how we calculate our charges. Whenever possible we will give you a detailed breakdown of the estimated total costs, whether these are our own fees or for an external resource such as a barrister or expert. As with all solicitors, Gani & Co requires your authority to make these payments, known as disbursements, to other people on your behalf.
